Description

Looking for food This representation is of my son and I in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on vacation in search for diamonds. We walked downtown and checked-out the ancient bathhouses, most of them were closed, except for one, which turned out to be a museum. After the museum, we built-up a hunger and at first wanted to see what the tourist eat, but then decided that we should find out what the locals eat, as one always should instead (it's always much better). Him and his grandpa were there a few months earlier, but only ate tourist food. So I walked over to a hot dog vender (who was closing down) and asked him where a good place to eat was. My son was embarrassed about me asking a food dealer where to find food, so he stayed far away and didn't want no part of it, I guess he felt the hot dog man would feel bad about his crumby burgers by asking to eat somewhere else. He looked like he wanted to run and hide! He told us about a place called "Sink's Kitchen," it turned out to be the best food I ever ate in Arkansas! There were original oil paintings covering the walls, and an easel set up in front of tables where people ate so they could watch a painter paint and eat at the same time. As we sat there an artist grabbed a painting off the wall and started to paint on it while we enjoyed our delicious food. It was a great experience, especially since I enjoyed it with my son. "Sink's Kitchen!" .............................. Looking For Food My son and I was in Hot Springs, Ar. on vacation. We when up to look for Diamonds, but we went to Hot Springs first. . We walked from the motel to downtown and looked at all the hot baths most was closed but one was open so we went in and looked it was a museum. When we came out we was hunger and we saw what the tourist eat and my son was there earlier for about four months he and his grandpa went there too. So he know some of the places to eat. I say let find out what the local people eat. That what I like to do go where the local eat for I find the food better anyway. We saw this Hot Dog man selling hot dogs and I say to my son "Look let ask him". My son did not want no part of it I say "look he putting his stand up and he not selling " my son say "no way". I took off to ask the dog man anyway for I was hunger. My son backed up and did not come; but me I walk over and ask him and he told me of three places close by. so we went to "Sink Kicturn" and it was the best food I ate in Ar. There real oil paintings on the wall and a art studio in there too. As we ate the artist came in and took a painting off the wall and walk over and started to paint. Very good place to eat and see things you never seen before. .................................... you see how i write just like i talk bad. Some people do not understand what I wrote and sometimes i have a hard time reading my own writings lol MY son will take all the good from tis here for he the one that makes it possible for you to understand why I think I a blockhead In big cities. see I wrote this bad too lol. I a blockhead anywheres. page 1 In my galleryis "Blockhead" If you like to see the big image of "Sink Kitchen" it on page 17 he is a good writer you know thanks for lookinf and reading and comments and votes

Ah, Arkansas. When I was in school in Missouri we'd go down there to do float trips on the rivers - that was nice. Well done little sketch Jock.

Sounds like a really great resturant you found in Arkansas! Really different atmosphere than most! I was laughing about the part in your story about your Son not wanting you to ask the food vendor where to eat, lol!! Really funny stuff. Bet you both had a lot of laughs :) Good story, thank your Son for helping out, :) V

There is nothing like "taking the waters" with the nobles. The closest I can come to this in memory was when my father and I would go to the Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier Park, Montana. We'd see college students working as bus boys and waiting tables to work through school. It wasn't until I was in college working in a dorm as a bus boy I realized what a privilege it was to work for great Northern Railway in a resort hotel. Guess I didn't get to the food. That got to be a habit too!

In reading this peaked my curiousity and I wanted more details, more "show me, don't tell me", if you know what I mean. This could be really good if you told more of the story, fleshed it out and gave it life. This reads a lil more skeletal, if you know what I mean.

I used to go to Jonsboro Ark.on business. Being from Canada every body used to say I had an accent don't know why I speak English like everybody else. . When in Rome eat what the Roman's eat and if I remember my history all Romans ate at "Sink's Kitchen. Up your way they say Cajun down my way they say Les Acadien. Wonderful people either way!

Hot Springs is a fun place and beautiful. You should have went up to the ranger tower above town.absolutely beautiful view up there, I ended up at a greasy cluck place, being afraid to ask the hot dog vendor. actually I never seen him

thanks for the comments. I wrote the story and my son rewote it as if I was telling it. He the first part. Yes you right I no story teller or writer as my was the 2th story. I write like I talk and that not good when it comes to writing. This is a true story and I not going to be writing much I just wanted to tell this story. My son , If he wrote it would have the meat and all but he was been a ghostwriter and tell it like I would but useing the proper english. I think he did good with that do you think so? He won a contest in high school writing and the story he wrote was put in the high school papers all across the U.S. I guess I did not get this across

We always thought truck stops had the greatest food as well! They have to feed tired, hungry truckers that finally stop for a break. We found the most delicious fish at the coast by asking a local for a good restaurant. Asking is a good thing! Cool story Jock! V (:

I like both versions but would like to hear more. I always like reading what you have to say about things and I understand you just fine. I think that you probably have a unique gift as a story teller, much as you do as an artist, and hope that you submit lots more writing.
