Description
One by one they came
Lined along the window pane
Hopping up, foot to hand, hand to head
Under my covers; seen from my bed
One a-top the other, then another
Then one came with a gray pail
Leaving a messy trail
Passed it up, hand to foot, foot to hand
One to the next, then the rest
Till it reached the top
And then it stopped
It continued on this way
Till each had a pail of gray
And it all happened so fast
That I didn't see the brushes passed
Then through still sleepy eyes
The scenery I recognized
My window had been crystallized
