Description

Runaway Westward bound, the child was leaving, She cries her last tears, her chest heaving. Far too young to live alone, She knows more now, than most folks, grown. Tired of living, and scared to die, Tired of having to live a lie. "They don't hit me, he doesn't rape me.." "..It's their way of showing how much they hate me." "Something I did, something I said, Must have made them wish I were dead." It's hell in the streets, but home's just as bad. Can't miss something you never had. She paints up her face, wears something tight, And sticks out her thumb, facing the night. Anyway you look at it, she's gonna lose. But for now, for tonight, she gets to choose. She says she can't count on one person to love, When she needs an embrace, she ends up with a shove. All of her short life, the kids had to pay. But we all know she's just another runaway.

Oohh. This is beautifully written, I love the flow of it. Such a sad story. I have never been a runaway, but there were words in here I definitely connected with. This line, "Far too young to live alone, She knows more now, than most folks, grown. " Love it!!

When I commuted to New York City, I would come through Penn Station and see many girls waiting to go somewhere....sadly for some their journey would end on a morgue slab. It is a cruel world out there. Excellent post! v

It's sad and horrifying and happens way too often in our so-called "civilized" world. Well done!

So many are in this situation. It is awful that kids can't be kids anymore and have to grow up so quick. Excellent!**
