XOT......always on the run.....waiting for that robotic hand to land on a shoulder.... Meanwhile..... "Do you think XOT got away?" "They say it happened." "But is XOT alive?" "Who knows, what I want is the bed that's left behind." "And the boots?" "Worn out, like the rest of XOT. You can have them." "What about XOT's renders?" "Throw them out, nobody's interested in seeing them." "All that time, effort, and pain." "I just hope that bed's not worn out." "I wonder if those boots will fit me?" ------------------------------------------ BIO REAL artist username = XOT Often, when I visit a bookstore I'm not so much interested in the books themselves but more the cover art. :-) -- So if my artwork gravitates towards that kind of look then you know why. I like to just 'play' with whatever it is I'm doing and let it evolve from that rather than set out and do something that's planned out.....and never hold me to a deadline either. Most of the time these days I find that my energy levels and duration of time that I can spend on any one thing is much more limited due to health so it's usually a race as to finishing any one project or have pain overcome me. - It's not a unique situation. In fact many people here & everywhere are quite similar in that regard and use the pastime of doing artwork for relaxation, distraction, and expression. When all is said and done though it's just a hobby. - One that involves being cordial and friendly to others, being helpful, having a laugh at oneself and perhaps learning something on the way. I'm a private person with a multitude of pseudonyms. Don't be suprised if you come across me elsewhere....or not. - Perhaps last seen in various places as ZOT, XOTT, and XOTT. :-P Like most people here I welcome friendly comments on the images I make and it's always nice to know I've made somebody's life a little more enjoyable even if just for a few seconds. - So thanks for the comments because they're always appreciated. :-) Last edited: Wednesday-9-January-2007

Fantastic! I can't believe there are no other posts for this. You captured a horrific moment there and the way you lit it, combined with the words explaining the fears...brilliant.

Thanks Calseeor. :-) I was trying to figure out which would be the most vulnerable and frightening points on a body that somebody would hate to gave a spider crawl over or into. Since any x-rated ones are out of the question that leaves only a couple of choices. I chose the mouth but the eye would also be a good one, although if the spider was small enough maybe it could crawl up your nose or ear. :-P The text in the pic was subdued a lot to make the image be the thing that you see most of all, and just when you're wondering what the image is about then you do some reading.... :-) Yes, spiders crawling over us when we're asleep is enough to give most people the jitters but if you're awake and can't do anything about them...

This is a great image, and a great idea. Afraid I'll be weirded out when I go to bed for a few nights. One thing: the inside of the mouth looks to me like it has a light inside of it. It should go into darkness instead of having an ambiantly lit tongue and teeth... is this an artifact of the model, an intended effect, or what?

The light (and colour) inside the mouth was initally just a fortuitous accident of the ambient lighting I used in Vue d'Esprit. -- The entire scene was covered in a solid dome to exclude the 'sunlight' so then I could play around with spotlights etc., but the particular atmosphere I used was still deeply blue hued and so it made the figure that colour but because of a bit of fill-in light from a spotlight of mine I ended up with a little original colour inside the mouth which made the tounge much more visible, and in my humble opinion more visually 'vulnerable'. ;-) --- As a test I've just done here at home a quick dark PS scribble over the image and made the mouth more 'correctly' lit but now it seems to miss that little beat of vulnerability. -- Anyway, I hate spiders,...had to thwack a big cream coloured one on the wall next to me whilst I was in the middle of having my shower the other night....(shudder)...
