May be a little bit too sharp for my taste but is also another very excellent image! Speaking about the rather cool reception, i think the level of competitive artist here, is amazing! With more than 50 post a day is Quite impossible to see all. I think get 50 viewing or more is still a great feedback! Sometimes amazing work take a less number of viewing, take a look to the last of Garypoulton is about 30 viewings....

No Rich; it's not what you said; rather, I think all of us artists have bad days world-wide at the same time ...it's something in the genes. Now, for your picture: The lower layer appears as efflourescence; or, salts leached out of the ground by moisture. It appears crusty and has a 3D look to it. I like the terrain and sky/clouds color - they go together perfectly. In all; this is an excellent picture.

Superb surface, esp in the f/g (agree it's a little oversharp); excellent depth and atmo; nice lighting!

This is a real study in textures and colors and marvellously done. Regarding the cool reception, your art is sometimes too subtle for the supernova fans, that's all.
