Description

This started off as a modeling project then soon evolved. All textures were created by scratch in Photo Shop, except the background and the iris. The shading network is a bit extensive; there are assortments of diffuse, translucent, and secular shaders. The hair is paint effects with about 150 controller hairs to shape the hair. The face is rigged using 65+ cluster deformers to achieve a more accurate movement, the face also has a few automated controllers on it, such as automated eyelids, that track with the eyes movment, and bump maps for the lips that change based on the shape of the mouth. This image was rendered with default Maya render, about a 40 min. render time. animation to come soon. AJ

WOw! Looks really cool. I would go a bit darker with the shadows in the nostrils, but that's it. E*

Awesome. You have put an immense amount of detail and effort into this. I love the stubble, his teeth are as good as you get in 3d (although not quite totally real), eyes are squinty - so they don't give the game away either. Great detail with the skin folded on his nose (although the fold doesn't look quite right - might be too sharp?). It's possible the sss effects have been overdone - which might be what's causing his nostrils to glow a bit. But excellent work getting such an sss look thru the maya scanline renderer. Final comment is about his hair....it's a tad green - normally someone with his complection (a "bloodnut") would have red hair. Black hair is usually the safest bet for realism. Awesome modelling - well done. Wish I could do a quarter of what you have achieved. Can't wait to see some animations!

I like it. Bump map that changes with the movement of the lips.. that's just brilliant! Keep up the good work.
