Description

You may or may not have seen a similar picture to this before. It was called Surface Inspection This Alien was sculpted a bit more in Poser with some magnets and has a different body build. The major difference though is the amount of blending and blurring of edges to make him more part of the picture. Most of the mid textures though were left detailed. His poser stretch marks were fixed to resemble more normal looking skin. The reflection in his eye was the background picture reduced and distorted. This was one of the first all around attempts at a complete .hdr scene. Background photo taken along with others. Then a gazing ball photographed on top of a tri-pod for the lighting of it to be mapped on a sphere later to light whatever 3d person I decided to put in this image. So the light would be true to the background plate. Even if this fella were all chrome, he'd blend with the background and reflect the environment he is in. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Amazing realism you achived with this hdri lighting and blurring of edges, he totally falls in with the background. Did you say you made the hdri file yourself, using a reflecting sphere - I heard of that approach, but not a program to convert it to a hdr. This is very cool done! Excellent work!
