Description

As everybody knows - Martians did not exist, and slow walking machines are not a very effective weapon - so let's be less serious this time :-)

Some of you probably will ask why heat ray struck old ship wreck ?
Why they did not burn the escaping boat?
Hmmm....No body's perfect....Even fancy Martians...
Previous day some of them drunk too much human blood.
After such a party, precise aiming is a hard task for Martians having hangover.

Remember, never try to drive a walking war machine, neither use heat ray the day after a party... You risk missing the target ;-))

Set, textured & rendered in Vue 5 Esprit.

Meshes created by :
Alain Gracia - lighthouse
Derrin Proctor - Martian Walkers
Helmut Shaub - motorboat & shipwreck1
Curious Labs - Low Res Casual Man

All meshes were retextured by me - I used a mix of textures and Vue 5 functions to obtain stains and aging effect.
Flames are a couple of spheres with a volumetric luminous material + point light
Smoke is only a 2D postwork (unfortunately I forgot about it before I render the scene - but you could obtain very similar effect using several spheres with fuzzy material)
Shore effect - alpha plane with painted transparency bitmap for mixing clear water and foamy water.

Beautifully assembled image! The lighting, composition, textures, elements... water... everything here is superb. I am absolutely delighted with how well you achieved the shallows close to the rocks and with the steam coming out of the smaller vessel (although technically steam should be white puffy clouds). Even the watermarks on the sides of the lighthouse are fantastic. Definitely deserves a vote!

Hi ! This is a great picture with a great technique on it as an articitic sense for the point of vue. I hope you will accept this compliment : you are my reference about Vue works, and i'm trying to be as severe as you when i'm working on my own pictures.
