Description

Here it goes: Note, I'm 16. We were at TomThumb and I, naturally, was going around with a camera taking pictures of the fruit and meat. Suddenly an imployee walked up and said, "Sir, sir. I'm going to have to ask you to deleate those pictures. Will you deleate them?" "Yes, when I get home." I replied. "Well, can you deleate them right here? We can't have people taking pictures in our store." "Well, they take a while to deleate. (I had taken 30 pictures." "Well, I have a digital camera and they don't take long to deleate." "Yeah they do, I'll deleate them when I get home." "Well, I can't force you to deleate them." I walked off. I was going down the Isle, and I saw him circle back around. A few other employees were around. I looked up and through a clearing, I saw the same man who approached me staring at me. He turned and walked off. I looked up and there was an employee walking by who stared at me the entire time. About 3-5 other employees where staring at me. We made it through check out and as we were exiting the store, the doors stopped. Luckily, they stopped a bit late and were partially open, so we just pushed them the rest of the way. Then the speaker/horn thingy started going off and talking. We couldn't make out what it was saying. I heard you can get arrested for taking pick in there. It's asinine. Does anyone know the laws on that?

Don't know the laws but I would imagine they think that you are going to turn them in for selling bad fruit or meat or something to that affect. I can't think of any other reason unless like you said, there might be laws governing such things.

Yeah,no law against it that I know of, but they probably thought you were with a newspaper or dateline or some other news agency. Trying to get pics of things that were wrong. Since if you had pics of meat thats out of date and stuff like that, they could be fined and get in trouble. Their are no real laws against photography, except the little loophole that since the store is private property that they can say you dont have permision to take the pics, and all that. Well I like the composition of this pics. Excellent capture and job.

I think it's rediculous that they were getting so upset over you taking photos of fruit and meat! You arent some secret agent laughs....The retail industry have some stupid rules, but I think in general, cameras are not welcomed in any retail store/mall (I dont think there is a law though). A brilliant compositon, love the xmas colours too. Gorgeous detail, Perfectly done =)

A store may have a policy of picture taking but they should have posted a warning sign. Now there are laws for listening in on conversation of others without their knowledge. A camera would fall under electronic listening device. Search the Federal wiretapping laws and your state laws. Each state has their own laws. There is a one consent rule and two consent rule depending on your state. You can not hide the camera under a table or behind some flowers. But you can hide it on you (consent given to yourself). With all information collected, you cannot broadcast it. A prime example of laws violated was President Nixon. Another was Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp. The penalties were heavy. You can visit a site for some knowledge of wiretapping laws http://www.rcfp.org/taping/ . But with all this I have said, I doubt if listening in on a Bunch of Apples violated any laws. Maybe that store was doing something illegal? Aloha and have fun taking pictures. Excellent shot of those apples

I actually was just thinking about bringing my camera into our grocery store the other day -- now I'm not so sure. I'll have to ask the store owner about this. To me it does sound strange the reaction you got at your Cub. Maybe they have things to hide? I love this picture .. its a shot I considered taking myself ... another good one would be the colorful peppers on display ... get any of those?? :)

Cool shot...the story behind it also. I think Apophis906 is right about them worrying your image will be used against the store in someway! Wonder what they'll do when cell phone/cameras become the NORM?
