See this Angel on the front porch? I put the crusifix from the Catholic Church on her. I think it looks cool. It makes for more protection....two weapons in one. Big heavy sculpure I could bash an intruders head in with, and a crusifix I could stab a bad guy in the eye with. Not to mention the protection of the blessed angelic spirit, the peaceful holy kind that nice angels should act like. Or maybe not...mabye she's a violent angel, anyways, whatever. The crusifix i wonder about...this instrument of torture and death...we meditate and flaunt it to remind us of the ultimate sacrifice by Jesus. I wonder...how does Jesus feel about this? If I was Jesus, and I got executed by a Swiss Army Knife, would I want everyone wearing one on a chain, and worshiping this murder weapon of torture in rememberance of me? Having big statues and impressions and paintings everywhere of me being stabbed with a swiss army knife. Talk about rubbing in bad times. How would I know, I have no idea. I doubt it though. It was a brutal means of exucution, this crusifix. I have many, and wear one around my neck. Obviously, I am confused...but at least my Angel doesn't seem confused. Don't get me wrong....I am very touched by the story of Jesus, his love and wisdom...brave sacrific for others, for love of others. What a guy....I admire that. I get goose bumps when I think of him and his brave sacrifice. Why is sacrifice necessary though I wonder? What do I know? Not much, but enough to wonder. I just ask alot of questions....so...this is my Catholic Angel. It is a good one. And may she(her name is Angelica-cool) bless you and bring you peace. Thanks for looking, -Peace :-)

It looks bullet proof! What about the real angels (Hebrews 1:7,14). Nothing like a weapon you can be fond of! Keep questioning! Ad.

well, Jeff...you ask some great questions, and you give us something to think about. you make a great point, my friend. really great point. my opinion...well, i think Jesus isn't too hung up on that. you know..i think jesus has a great sense of humor...laughs a lot...those big belly laughs...you know the kind! i think he delights in us...except when we act like spoiled brats and rebellious teenagers!!!! anyway...i guess i'm a little weird...see Jesus as pretty mellow. just my opinion. doesn't amount to a hill of beans...but there it is anyway. keep thinking...keep asking questions. your image is really cool!!! quite beautiful!!!! Thanks for giving me a different way of looking at this! holiday hugz!

I assume that the cross is symbolic in many religions, not really as a death icon, but one that has been in religious thought for centuries. The Romans had their own version as well as the Celtics, long before the Catholics and Christians picked up on it. Just that we as humans have to justify why we use these symbols, without saying we are worshiping idols( which in itself is a big NO NO :D ) Even still, a lovely icon you have made. She is a symbol of love and protection for you :D Excellent !!!

I'm right there with you in this thought pattern...During Christmas Eve services the pastor gave us the sacrements (bread and wine)and said that Jesus did not do or say much that He wanted us to remember Him by...except for the Lord's Supper rites...do this in remembrance of Him, but I too wear a cross to help me remember between Holy Communions, and certainly believe in the protection that angels provide!!
