Good lord.. I've really got to get on this whole update thing, don't I?
ÂÂ
Tell you what... I'll promise to try, if you all promise to believe me and forgive me when I forget again, yes?
ÂÂ
Awesome!
See? Everyone wins :)
Let's see.. Where were we? Ah yes.. I'd left RDNA, my home away from home due to growing physical issues that were preventing me from working. Hardly seemed fair for me to stay there that way, as there were so very many incredibly talented artists capable of fulfilling the quota required and here I was busy getting my spinal nerves burnt off.
Nevertheless, I am alive and remarkably enough, actually on the road to recovery at long last. When I began my therapy a few years ago, it was presented as something along the lines of a 'once in a while thing' and that I'd be back to normal ( or as 'normal' as I get, anyway) in no time.
That was what.. 2? 3 years ago now? That will teach me to listen to doctors.
ANYWAY..
Yes. Better is good. I got here without the help of the medical community, ironically enough. By the time they had finished with me I was unable to walk without a cane and told to expect a wheel chair within 6 months. That was 7 months ago and I've been without a can for three of those and in less pain for two.
Can anyone say 'Insurance milking'?
Ahh see? I knew you could :)
So here I am. Painting on commision now and working in 3d and doing the texture thing here as well again. It's nice, even if it isn't like it used to be. I still adore doing it and thus being ABLE to do it doesn't suck either, no?
And there we have it. An actual update! Try to contain your wonder ;)
Now perhaps I will get less emails from people wondering where I am and where all my stuff went! :P
ÂÂ
Peace.

I tried going to the link for the tutorial, all I get is "No page exists at your destination address,http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/13414849/http://mail.yahoo.com/" so I take it that this is a broken link? is there any where else I can download this tutorial? All the very best from Keith n Kay at www.falconian.com

Fal- you added a http://mail.yahoo.com/ to the link I think. The orignal doesnt contain it. Im pleased you like it. Deviant art is the only place it's uploaded to at the moment though due to it's size.

Stacey your tutorial is AWESOME!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for doing and posting it!!!!! It is damn interesting and so much to learn, soooo cool to see the progress of this wonderful piece!!! And hehe the most I liked this sentence in your tut: And if you DO have an issue with reference, why in the hell are you reading this tutorial? Go paint a melted clock or something. LOOOOLLLL you are fantastic, I really had to laugh a lot while reading that it is so damn right!!! Well and believe me the most of the really big ones mostly use reference, I also use reference when I can, but mostly I just dont have time to take a photo and have to do pictures from my mind (it is always very hard for me to get the light right in a piece without reference), but sadly if it comes to job and the client wants an axe wielding warrior in leather armor or whatever and deadline is very short, I cant loose the time to look for a model and make the shooting cause I would not be able to hold the deadline :-( - so no reference in such cases :-( but you always see when I use reference the pieces I do using reference are just BETTER!!! - To make it short I fully agree with you using reference is always a good thing if it comes to realism even for a melted clock ;-) a reference photo can be more than helpful to get the clock and the light right I love your art, and thanks again for the tutorial Way to go girl YOU ROCK!!!!!!
