Description


Henry Berrie Lowrie is a Legend of the Lumbee and Tuscorora People in Robeson County, in the southeastern part of NC. He was born in 1847 and reportedly died in 1867, his body never recovered. As a young boy hiding in a field, he witnessed the executions of his Father and Eldest Brother. Vowing revenge, he formed a gang that wreaked havoc on the White community. His gang holed up up in the swamps and was shielded by family and supporters from nearby "Scuffletown'(now Pembroke). He carried with him 5 six barrelled pistols(Pepperbox) a 12 ga. shotgun, a Henry rifle and a long bladed kinfe. All which weighed aprrox. 80 lbs.
