Description

This picture it was some kind of a practice. I wanted to do a realistic surface.. or at least a good-looking. The atmosphere is inspired by the book "Holes" which we had to read in english in school. I read it within few hours. It's very trashy I think, but the description of the atmosphere over the "lake" inspired me to do this sky. It's hard to tell where the sun really is. This also should be my first render without water... i couldn't resist ^^ But thats not so bad i think. While looking at maps of Africa, I always wondered what it looks like when a desert meets ocean such as the desert Namib and the Atlantic in south-west Africa. btw: The terrain file was created by TheElement (www.terraland.de ; TheElement at R'osity ). I chose this one, because it's quite smooth so i could see what the surface looks like. I want to thank Adiwan giving me one of his surface-files (I didn't use it in this image, but it helped me to learn about surface in general a while ago). (Adiwan at R'osity ) Thanks Kranky for StrataGen2, the strata in this picture was made using this program. (StrataGen 2 ; Kranky at R'osity ) PS.: If there are any mistakes in this text, please write a comment, so i can improve my english =)

Excellent work on the surfaces and sky, nice subtle strata too. IMO The water looks too calm to have that much surf. Great overall tone and mood though. :)

I think you have achieved everything you set out to do in this render. Surfaces are excellent and especially like the green grassy areas near the water. P.S. Your English is just fine.

The rock/sand surfaces are excellent in my opinion. Excellent job!

Awesome sky and surface. I think the surf is OK, it looks like it could be sea foam which can form even when the water is calm.
