Description

I toss and turn between my sheets Maybe if I hug the covers tighter... Maybe if I move this leg there... Comfort is found in no position. I take a long drag from my cigarette. I don't know why I think that'll help. The pain is unbearable tonight. The Emergency Room is always an option. My muscles throb with every beat of my heart. My fingers and toes go numb. I tap my finger on my nose. The action amuses me for a moment. Well, here it goes. It's happening again. The pain takes over my body. I'm paralyzed from the hair down. I can't even yell for help. I know not even a pill will help this time. The suffering spreads throughout my back first. The way it moves... Reminds me of fresh ink bleeding into white paper. My chest is too tight! Something's wrong. I can't breath! The pain...It's moving too fast! It surrounds me like a white sheet. Moving up my body... It drapes over my face. No movements. No sounds. The pain has won the battle. I have a lot of back issues lately. I basically have the back of someone who is near death. I wrote this one night when the pain was so bad, I couldnt even get out of bed to go to do the simpilest task. The Caution sign came from an old job...it now hangs on my wall. Let me know what you think, I love comments.

One of the worst kind of pains, I broke my back 8 years ago and still get troubled by it now. I can sympathize with you. Hope the pain gets better. ;0)

Sounds paralyzing, freightening and painful. Your writing captures the pain very well. I'm sorry for what you're going through. I hope it gets better.

I'm glad you wrote this. My fiancee has many back problems and goes through the same thing you do. This sounds quite a bit like her. It's hard for both of us, because I can't even begin to imagine the sort of pain she lives with. I hope you find peace.

My wife has severe and chronic back problems ... which have curtailed almost all pleasurable activities - including travel which we loved. I can well understand what you have expressed so graphically here.
