Description

Poser 5 and postwork with PH 10 A tribute for all the victims which died by one of the biggest nature disaster in the world history! Rescuers scoured remote coastlines across the Indian Ocean for survivors of Sunday's giant waves that killed more than 68,000. The United Nations mobilised what it called the biggest relief operation in its history. The ocean surge was triggered by a 9.0-magnitude undersea earthquake, the biggest in 40 years, off the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It spread in an arc of death across the Indian Ocean, striking from Indonesia to Sri Lanka and beyond to Africa. U.S. scientists said the quake that set off the killer wall of water had permanently moved tectonic plates beneath the Indian Ocean as much as 30 metres, slightly shifting islands near Sumatra. It may also have made the Earth wobble on its axis. Survivors told harrowing tales of the moment the tsunami, up to 10 metres high, struck towns and resorts, sucking local people and holidaymakers into the sea, surging through buildings, sweeping cars from roads and smashing a train off its rails.

Touching tribute to all those people who have been involved in this terrible tragedy. The loss of so many lives is tragic, but the suffering of all the people who lost loved ones is equally as tragic not to mention their homes and livelihood. Your image is beautifully done and evokes the aftermath of this tragedy. Jan

Very beautiful and moving tribute. It is such a tragedy. Prayers for all those who are suffering , loss of family and houses and for those in hospitals, Especially for all the children who did make it and were left orphans. There are websites around such as the Red Cross where donations for the survivors can be made. A Wonderful work and tribute.!!!

Wonderful idea and very moving picture. To get an impression of the power unleashed by this earthquake: Scientists report that the rotation speed of the earth increased due to the earthquake, reducing the duration of the day by 3 microseconds! This means that days are now 3 microseconds shorter than they were last week. And even in distant California the waves were 22 cm higher than normal.

This situation is just so devastating. Truly beyond comprehension. So much loss of life, many that we will never know about. A moment that changed generations of lives, families, and societies forever. And the rest of us sit feeling helpless.

A touching and honorable tribute. With all of our petty concerns and stresses, sometimes we fail to recognize the TRUE suffering that exists in the world. So the next time you're upset or stressed about what this one said, or what you couldn't buy, think about all of the people who were swept away forever, by the waves of death and all of the survivors still suffering and try to put things into perspective. An excellent tribute my friend, God bless.
