Description

As the last group of refugees boarded the transports, the old sergeant realized that even amidst an environmental catastrophe, there were moments when the old war wounds didn't hurt quite so much.

I changed the composition of this about seven times before I finally got it to look just right. Unfortunately, one side effect of this particular arrangement is that you can barely see the smoke in the background and the damaged buildings in the city. Ah well, I'm still happy with it -- the focus is supposed to be the soldier and the little girl anyway ;)

Special thanks to JHoagland for the Houndstooth mech, Kozaburo for the two hair props and Daio for the "Dionne" Stephanie texture.

yup, completely missed the burning city, even after I read your message and went back to look again, but it's still a great picture.

Excellent image... even if you can barely see the Houndstooth. :-) Other than that, I would say the image is perfect: why worry about the background buildings when there's plenty of other action going on?

I just thought I drop by and encourage you to pick up the story once again. I need to see more of your work ... it is very sharp.
