Description

This is a preview of a project that Morris and I are working on. The goal is realism. This render was done using the 'default' settings for the new shader script, and 4 lights, no postwork. Her face is still no right, but getting closer. I'll post a portrait in the next few days. Pls excuse the total absence of any attempt at artwork in this render....

i'd rather have a straight poser piece myself! this is a good piece of work!! it shows off your talent, without all the bells and whistles!! Great Job! -- odd --

Heres my analogy of this! Please don't take it the wrong way. Morris accomplishes realism VERY well, without the shader nodes. Her texturing is some of the best. The shader nodes are ok IMHO, but I dont personaly care for them as they add to much noise throughout the complete texture & to me personaly, realism doesn't have noise throughout the whole body texturing. I have seen some of your renders where the shader nodes look spectacular & some that just dont look real at all. This is not a put down to you at all, but I much prefer Morris' realism in texturing without shader nodes.

TamelaJ - great points (although easy to take the wrong way :-).....and I appreciate the feedback. Firstly, this new system doesn't add noise throughout the whole texture. Secondly, I agree - some renders using the RSS have been posted that are breathtaking, and others that haven't hit the spot (including a few of mine). I guess I'm interested in producing tools that provide the capability of producing those breathtaking renders....but not every render using the system will be breathtaking. But if you are going to push some boundries, there will be a few hurdles along the way ...(sent via IM).

She looks great. In regards to the face, maybe add a bit more cheekbone, and streamline the jaw, and a little color to the apples of her cheeks. Maybe it is because she is in a 3/4 pose and not a portrait pose??? in regards to TamelaJ, I find that I can take a bland, "handpainted" texture, and make it spectacular with Face_off's shader(see my Jill revisited). Even with a texture by Morris, I can tone down the skin shader, and still create a wonderful image(see my Beach Bums, Hot Studio Lights). I got to agree with Face_off, it is not perfect, but the shader works wonders for many textures out there. -The Starkdog

Change can be painful...LOL! When this is done there will be no substitute.

Amazing level of detail with only four lights. Stronger shadows would heighten the sense of realism.

Very well done there. I think it's more the expression than anything else that isn't right. The detail on the face seems fine to me. Just a bit of an odd look.
