Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Better not to know before where the rails will bring us... I love it, how the branches are leaning themselves towards the white future... Excellent pic Jodie !

Very well done... the mist makes it look like the rails simply vanish long before they reach the proverbial vanishing point. Excellent shot.

well I commented on this as that ghost "mayuan," and I must've been half conscious, because I can't believe how short the comment was! This was a favorite all the way back then...RR tracks are easy to capture, but hard to capture well...they just seem too photogenic, like sunrises or big reflective ponds. It takes insight and patience to make them sing, I'd think. Well this sings. The detailing on the stones of the tracks is just at the right pitch to me, not too much but just enough to give it a shimmer. Second, the light at the end—which could be hackneyed in some photographs—isn't just there to be mystical, it washes over the whole shot & transforms it beautifully: The way you got the light bleaching the trees, progressively less as they approach us, is modulation at its best. And the branches jutting out, midground left, cut right through the mist, texture against texture. Lots of balance, lots of quiet mystery; and as tracks go, I'll let my train-lover friend speak when I sent him to this on April 8 of last year (when I made my last comment): "I've seen a lot of tracks, but these have great mystery & presence". Beautiful and a fav. Not often I get to do follow-ups, I'll try to do another in 9 more months...
