Getting a better handle on this. Although my model is not aging gracefully....... :-))
This image took 1 minute 49 seconds to render with shadows turned on and enhanced low antialiasing on a PIII 650, 640MB ram

Interesting... Is that hair a mesh? If so, good job on it. You need to add some wrinkles to make him look older.

no, the hair is accomplished with the Sasquatch Lite plugin for Lightwave. The only thing that is a little difficult is that you can't see the hair until you render so it's a hit and miss thing until you get the parameters the way that you like. I agree that some aging effects in the face geometry would be great though. Will have to try that out soon.
