Dann-O, All of the environment, sky , fog and land are part of the scene and lightwave generated. :-) Ron

Askguden, To do a canyon like this you can use splines and displacement mapping. One spline to set the path, a second to rail extrude the shape along the path, add a procedural as a displacement map and after some interactive parameter adjustments, a canyon wall. Save the transformed object out of layout. Repeat for other wall and a ground plane dispalcement mapped . Texture to suit. :-) Easy to do in Lw in few minutes. Can also use image maps or dems as well for displacement mapping. Hope that helps :-) Ron
