Description

Turning around myself on the place I captured the Pap of Glencoe yesterday, you will have a look on this old small church with its graveyard. It looked so moody in its quiet place and I'm glad that it wasn't to dark so that one can see enough of its atmosphere, telling about old and gone times. A great start into the new year for me: got a bad cold! ;o( Maybe I'm not able to comment every new posting, please forgive me! Thanks for your visit and all valuable comments! ;o)

A wonderful atmosphere in this incredible image! The graveyard looks different to those here... so airy and light... ours look more saddened and dark with lots of trees around.

What a quaint and beautiful stone chapel. A reverent and awesome scene and an excellent shot and finish. I hope you feel better, Rita.

I love graveyards, ever since my father walked me round a Covenanter graveyard, near Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, when I was about 7 years old. He explained the reverence we should have for the remains of the long dead, and the comfort relatives feel when they are able to visit a place of repose, and pray at the grave side. I find them peaceful and take time to pray for those lying within, and their descendants, those to tend the graves, and those who have no one on earth to remember them. My twin brother used headstones in various graveyards, to trace my father's family to the city of Armagh, in Northern Ireland, about 1820 or so. They were horse auctioneers in the city. (Ireland provided most of the horses for the British Army at the time, I believe).
