Description
In Greek mythology, the Horae or Hours were the three goddesses of the seasons, daughters of Zeus and Themis.
Later Greeks named the Horae as Eunomia (Order), Dike (Justice),and Eirene (Peace). Eirene was the goddess associated with peace, prosperity, and wealth. The Romans called her 'Pax'.
This image grew as the illustration for my new year greeting card to friends. My hope is that the new year will be a 'season of peace' for us all.
I have not featured Eirene's usual attributes - cornucopia, scepter and rhyton - as the image began as a more generic greek priestess greeting a new dawn or season. The background props are meant to suggest male and female realms.
The figure is V2, with UD Clothing's Greek dress, MAB's Greek hair, and lots of John Mallis prop freebies.
Comments welcome: I'm very much a beginner with Poser.

Nice posing and lighting. For some reason, it looks a bit pixelated to me. Did you forget to antialias or did you post your figure onto your background image?

Heys Blue Marlin. :) I used a slight radial blur on the background image after adjusting its colours in Photoshop. This could be what you're seeing. Or since the web image was saved in progressive format, perhaps your file didn't download fully? Pixellation can certainly be a problem when your bg is smaller than your final render. Cheers - John

Nice pickture... :-) Great harmony, and the dress she is wearing looks a lot like outfit on the shield, nicely done :-)

Nice image John.Just a few criticisms. The lighting appears to be coming very close to straight on or down but there are no shadows given off by anything. Also(after reading your description, can see why this is)the scene(to me anyways)is very cluttered.Thinkin' maybe a little less would have been better.Other than these things,it was well lit, composed & set out.Good work.

John, this is excellent for a first image. Very nicely put together. I have a few suggestions you might consider. a) The blurring of the background is a nice touch, but I think you overdid it. b)The cluttered look spawn mentioned could be reduced by moving some of the props. There are basically 4 of them.. and they're all about the same size... and arranged at about the same depth in the image and evenly spaced. Maybe put the axe, helmet, and shield all together. Then move the table with the pot way up front, even in front of the girl... and move the little pot with legs way back and maybe scale it down a bit. The butterfly up front shows what I mean... it adds depth to the image. c) A basic rule of art says that the focus area of an image should be about 20% in from the edge... showing another inch or so of the background above her head would really improve the image. d) The camera angle... straight on.. is OK, but its very statit. Moving the camera to one side, and raising or lowering it will make the image more dynamic, and more interesting. Raising the camera up high, looking down on the girl would be better.. or you might try it down low... looking up. Anyway... just some food for thought for your next image. For a first, you've done a magnificent job! Keep up the good work! Kent
