Description

It was a nice slow morning, and i was sipping my coffee while trying to think of what to model next... the rest is obvious. In this scene i'm just trying to learn how to get things to look as realistic as possible. But after looking at one render after another, it all starts to look the same. How am I doing? any comments or suggestions would be appreciated :)

I like this - nice and simple and the mug texture is great. Maybe could have done with some steam or something to make the coffee look hot...

It's looking good but maybe a bit empty. Try adding some stuff around the cup like maybe a spoon, some bread crumbs, a table cloth. Add a toaster in the background and play around with DOF (Depth of Field) to add some depth. Also experiment with your current light setup by adding additional lights as the scene is a bit dark now.

Very good work! nice and sharp, what i noticed and i am not sure if this is a modelling mistake but anyway, the edge where the coffee hits the cup looks kind of deformed. its something i would try to change. the coffee could be somewhat darker, on my calibrated screen it looks more like coffee with a little milk in it ;) The idea of cartesius to add some things around the cup would be a great idea! it will make it even more realistic. Well done

Well, the coffee looks a bit low-poly:( But the textures are really amazing! Im not sure about the light shining in the left corner. To the_angry_monkey: when you make such an image the coffee can cool down, theres no need to add steam for me :)

If I didn't know it was a rendering I would stare at it and think it was a photo where something made it look just a little bit different. In other words I wouldn't be able to figure out that it was a rendering so it's really really good. On the other hand there's something about it that isn't quite the same as a photo. Something about the quality of the light.
