Description

Do you know what that is?! That is real, scattered light in poser!(as real as any software generated image I guess). Hand calculated and plugged in into the node room. This simple sphere is the result of hours and hours of calculating the volume of a sphere, calculating the integrals of little bitty curves with my ti-85 +, a painstakingly long setup in the material room, and the translucency node being a punk, over and over again. The Sub Surface scattering is actually an addition to the diffuse in this, since the only way really to get a color to appear in a shadow is with the ambient value, I plugged all of the work into that. The scattered light is grey, like say, a marble block, and is almost unnoticable unless you are in pitch black. Man, I have worn myself out! Go to bed, or for you crazy other side of hte world people, get to work.

Well Corranvh, if this is correct - this is a real breakthru. The challenge now is to implement this is a practice environment. Do not sleep until this is done!

I'm sure what you did was worth every second of the work, and I sorta understand the general idea. Is this something that is applicable to the general community as settings in the material room or is it more esoteric than that? It appears you have accomplished the "limb effect" shown here in side view (there is a very slight banding visible, but I think that's probably from the jpg compression algorithm). Would be interesting to see a crater displacement map applied to this. Hope you had rectilinear dreams...!!
