Description

Imagine to be a kid..you are visiting your grandfather and grandmother. They say you might play on the attic... Interesting place to go.. so many things to discover. You're there and it appears there are many things of interest. Old and long forgotten furniture saved for who knows.., dusty dolls, paintings.. maybe painted by Rembrand..who knows ..and there is that old, brown shoebox. What is in it ? ... And there it is.. lots and lots of old photographs..one of the pictures appears to be this one, showed on your screen. A Renaissance castle, located nearby the city of Breda (Netherlands). You look further and than you realize you've just found a treasure. A reminder of the days that went by and never will return. Perhaps a bit disappointing: the story above was pure imagination of mine. I have taken this photograph one year ago with my Minolta dimage 7i and thanks to the postwork it looks this way. The original photograph can be found in my album and was added on November 3, 2004.

This is such a charming and romantic photograph, and your story was a lot of fun. Now it leaves me curious as to where it really is? Don't get me wrong, I could rank this carefully constructed work nothing other than excellent, but it looks like a somewhat faded photograph. Why not simulate a great old, but slightly better-preserved picture? I miss not being able to see a little more of the details in that lovely foliage, but on second thought, the mysterious haze certainly does add to the mood.

This is really a fantastic shot. Your text on the bottom kind of spoils it for me though. Maybe in the comment section you could have typed it. MHO.

dBgrafix: I understand what you mean. I added that part of the text when I found out that some people really believed that I had found the picture in my grandfather's shoebox. I felt uncomfortable about that, so I explained that the picture was not my grandfather's but mine.
