In Greek mythology, the dryads are female spirits of nature (nymphs), who preside over the groves and forests. Each one is born with a certain tree over which she watches. A dryad either lives in a tree, in which case she is called a hamadryad, or close to it. The lives of the dryads are connected with that of the trees; should the tree perish, then she dies with it. If this is caused by a mortal, the gods will punish him for that deed. The dryads themselves will also punish any thoughtless mortal who would somehow injure the trees.

dryads look after the forest but i'm sure sometimes they wonder what it would be like to be somewhere else :)
i guess 2005 is the year i'm going to try different ideas and different techniques in my art... can't grow as an artist if i only stick to what i know. i spent wayyy more time on this then i normally do.. and really this should be in the 2d gallery but since it started with Poser items, i put it in the poser gallery.
its Aiko with the realistic morph applied and its the Daz Creepy tree, for the shape.. then i put free bark textures by Blackhearted because the textures that came with the tree really didn't fit what i had in mind.
again i'm looking for feedback... so any comments or critiques are more then welcome.

I think you did a wonderfull job! And I agree with you 100%. To grow as an artist you have to try something new... who knows you may like it. I'm kind of doing the same thing. Going to school for graphic design.. Ive never made advertisements before.. I definately look forward to your new ones, and am going to look at your gallery right now!

Thanks for offering an explanaton on what dryads actually were. I tried and couldn't find any info on them. As for your pic, wonderful work especially with how her hair is tangled to the tree as well. And an awesome choice of makeup and colours. Bravo!
