I think I am seeing one of those magical facades made of iron in the 19th century. Most are gone now here pulled down as baroque curtains to reveal modern progress. The contrast to simple sandstone blocks is comforting. These are the buildings where my first office was "located" on the fifth floor. Exactly what each floor designates is a mystery to me.

I remember going by there a couple years ago. I think the iron structure was under repair then. Didn't there used to be a cable car or something that attached to it?
