I'm not an American, I haven't lost anyone, and yet, I weep over this whole ordeal. For me, tears arn't something I often shed, but this, this I shed tears for, and for the grey future that stands before us. May war only be a whisper on the wind. And words of another that echo my own thoughts. --------- To those responsible for the hijackings and attacks: You'll probably never read this. But even so, I'm going to say it. You're about to learn the deepest and truest meaning of the statement "you can run, but you can't hide". Because you'll never be able to hide. You'll never be safe. You'll never be secure. Maybe you're surrounded, now, by people who approve. Sooner or later, just one of them might think about 200 firefighters and 78 police officers going in to save lives, knowing damn well what's probably going to happen. Sooner or later, just one of them will think about entire planeloads of passengers, and the millions of people they can be connected to. Sooner or later, someone will realize that, no matter how much evil they might believe is in the US, attacking people who are far from that evil was wrong. But if you're not surrounded by people who approve, your time will come even more swiftly. You have no home, you have no safety, and you will never again be able to rest. Your name will be ranked with the greatest evildoers ever. Those who support your cause will someday soon scream "that is not our way!" You will be utterly rejected. You probably won't hear this, but by all that I hold holy, I hope you *KNOW* it. I hope you know that this knowledge is yours... you built it, you bought it, and you paid for it. And more, I hope you know that your fates depend on mercy from those you've show no mercy, to justice, from those you've given injustice, and honor, from those you've acted dishonorably against. While I hope we manage to hold true to those virtues, it's some small comfort to realize that you probably can't believe it is possible. It's not enough. *NOTHING* will ever be enough.
