Description

I do field work for a communications company, and cover an area of the midwest. As Thursday started here, heavy snow and sleet were coming into the area I was driving into. I was going through a scenic rural area, and rather than turn around and head for the office, I decided to see what the wooded areas along my route would look like with the snow and ice. I wasn't disapointed- the overhanging trees became an icy hall I drove through. Later, the sky cleared, and a golden afternoon sun shone down. I was heading home, when suddenly, I saw this and had to stop. Upon closer investigation, I found it wasn't a long forgotten farm implement, but a time machine! Yes, each time I touched it, I could touch another century- quite amazing. A perfect end to an interesting day. This is my first submission to the photo gallery, and I appologize that the image quality isn't better- the inexpensive camera I use in my work is just for quick snapshots, and doesn't produce high quality shots. A little sharpening in Photo Shop and Melancholytron for some added age. Hope you find it interesting, and tfv!

Classic photo Paul! These hidden places really yield some interesting things. Being from the midwest myself, the season looks so familiar. Excellent photo and writing!

I like it. Yes, it's nice to have a quantum-megapixel shooter, but you must have done quite well with the tools at hand. Nice.
