Description

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free..... People of Renderosity, we witnessed the death of liberty yesterday. My mind will never erase the moment when the second plane hit the World Trade Center. The scenes in the streets of New York were like a war zone and it looked like a blizzard of dust and debris covered its inhabitants. We listened as Mayor Guiliani described losing 200 firefighters, the accounts of those on airplanes headed for death, calling from their cell phones to loved ones on the ground below. The scenes of pandominum as those left on the highest floors of the Trade Center leaped to their death. Our nation mourns its greatest tragedy, and the thousands of people lost in the wake of yesterdays horrifying debacle. To all those who lost loved ones, our prayers are with you, to the courageous people of New York City, the doctors and nurses, firemen and police, rescue workers, to the citizens who are reaching out as we speak to help, to the staff and crew and people aboard those four flights who perished, to those at the Pentagon, our thoughts are only of you. I share my pain and anger, and utter hopelessness through this image I posted several months ago. I had a private email conversation with Jeff Howarth once about this image and he called it "The Death of Liberty". Jeff, no truer words were spake. God Bless each and every one of us, and may we all survive to see a brave new world emerge. Syyd

i heard this morning that corpses were being stacked on Ellis Island.......a fitting symbol to the slap in the face that our country has received from "a faceless coward" (quote Pres. Bush)........i've never been a flag-waver, but this.........this is the sort of thing that serves as a wake-up call to the spirit of 1776 that burns still within us all...........

A very powerful and moving image Syyd, I can see the great emotion within. You may be right but America has always come back in spades and stronger in the face of great need. I think we will finally do what needs to be done as a great country and with the free world.

Dear Syyd, thank you for your impressive picture. Looking at all these incoming pictures in the Renderosity Gallery, I got the feeling that we all now stand together in solidarity and sorrow. For me this shows, that the spirit of Liberty isnt dead, the spirit is stronger than ever.

Everyone, while I believe what we witnessed was the death of liberty, the death of our people, innocence and a certain sense of freedom that we as americans have enjoyed was lost. I believe strongly in the upsurge of patriotism we feel as a nation, and only hope and pray that the powers that be, can put an end to terrorism as a whole, not just for us as citizens of the US, but for people all around the world who suffer from this kind of unprecedented and violently evil kind of attack. I want a future for my children, and I dont want it to include terrorism in any way.

A moving and stirring image, Syd. We did not witness the death of liberty, however. Liberty was brutally attacked. Liberty was scarred, wounded perhaps. But liberty lives on in the hearts and souls of every American and every free-thinking individual in the world. Liberty is alive and well, Syd. And your children will live to see it, as will mine. We will teach them what liberty means and what it means to remember times like this when liberty is attacked and threatened.

Liberty is alive and well. And someone out there is about to find that out. Shockingly poignant image Syyd. We did take a hit. But this is the United States of America, we will overcome. The creatures who did this deed will never ever be so enlightened as to know what Liberty truly means.

Syyd: Good as all very born person I reject the violence, I understand what happens them, perfectly what you feel, in my country (Republic Argentina) in last decade we also had two terrible attacks terrorists, not with the magnitude that had that of yesterday in New York, I could not recover personally still of the shock, I cannot understand like sick minds from the darkness, plan the mass murder of thousands of innocent. Syyd personally is with you and with all the American friends.

I know how we here are feeling, lumps in our throats all day. Keeping up good fronts for the kids assuring them they are safe when we have our doubts ourself now. We walk around with sick feelings in the pits of our stomach. I cant even imagine how those of you in NY must feel, our thoughts and prayers are with you and we wish there was more we could do.
