Hi, my name is Bert Verstappen, living in Antwerp@Belgium and 23 years old.
I manly spent my time discovering 2D/3D-imaging, webdesign, and multi-media and i love it.
Have a nice time at renderosity!
BIOGot my master in ProductDevelopment (~Industrial Design) and a post-bachelor Multi-media Design.
My interest in graphics obviously started while studying ProductDevelopment. This is a 5year course about design theory, economics, science/technology, sketching, 3d-modeling. During this course i discovered Rhinoceros and LightWave, and until now these together with photoshop and flash are the main tools i'm trying to master.
Currently I'm doing some freelance work in 2D-3D-imaging and webdesign.

wonderful render, and very nice texture maps. Can't really critique the ambient level-- image looks fine on my monitor. My only comment/suggestion is that the near foreground columns and arches need more geometry-- bump and textures maps aren't completely convincing this close up. Because the stone is obviously weathered and old, seeing some "true" roughness in the geometry would be more consistent. This is a very minor point, though-- a great image.

It might be fun to put a small radial light behind the columns on the right to give a little illumination to the "hallway" on that side--I think in real life there would be some scattered light there, and you have put so much work into it might as well show it off;-))

Isn't this one of the bundled models from Vue Esprit 5? http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/vue5/images/Sponza.jpg

i have to dissapoint you guy's,i forgot to say that also the textures come with the model. you can dowload it at the site i noted on the top of the page (also check the galleries there, huge amount of sponza renders). This is a pure radiosity render and it's defenitly mine. Check my previous one to please.these are my first renders out of lightwave and i needed a model to give that cool "radiosity" a try. Thanks for comments! to perkins: a radial light would indeed enhance the picture.

I think you are right about the light. You should try another render with the use of HDRI (image world, I believe it's called in LW) and without the ambient or any light (default set to 0%). I've been in Sponza more then a dozen times and, trust me, it's wonderfully lit with its own texture...
