Cartoonish muted to illustrator's pallette colors mimic postcards of painted B & W landscapes. I seems to make the hardness of the rock rhyme rather than deadbeat. Perhaps it appeals most to the viewer with a geologist's hammer. Wind, alone, could evoke that in everyone.
