Description

Menthu The hawk-headed god of war. The principle site of his cult was Thebes, and in Karnak today, there are still remains of his temple. Menthu was the son of Ra, and his task consisted of killing the enemies of his father. Bulls and hawks were considered to be his manifestations on the earth. In addition, he was assigned a white animal with a black face, which was called a Bukhis. In the New Kingdom, Menthu changed into the protective spirit of the king, by whose side he stood in sporting contests and in battle. needed to give XD a rest this evening, so back to one of my favourite series, 'Visions of ancient Egypt'. I think what bought Menthu to mind were the hawks and doves gathered in Washington today. Tierazon, with postwork in photoshop7

this is amazing - the thumb looked like an evil mosquito demon - but the son of Ra works - excellent colour - love the fractal filligree in the middle
