Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

I agree with you, cant believe that the sailer can find thermal lifts. And he starts in fog, crazy!

One does not want his prowess to become blunted or jaded no matter how long he must wait. How they did things in the days of sabertoothed tigers is still rippling in the wind.

Outstanding composition, the diagonal scene builds tension and develops a sense of action, bravo, well done!

Yes this is one of the disavantages of this sport, we are closely dependant on the wind conditions. But, please, don't call this parasailing, the right word is "paragliding" because our wings are considered as gliders. They are gliders. Nice shot, anyway. Tell me if you come in Geneva area, one day, I'd like to have shots of my paraglider. Cheers!

What a great image, in my opinion, the para sailer is made, but I have to admire his dedication to his sport :)

Seems to me like it would be a bit cold to sail through the winter air! I never heard of this going on at this time of the year either!!! :)

New to me too, Jan-Carel. I have only seen it live once, and that was in Spain, last summer. There it was over a beach, jumping off from a little slope, in light winds with the temperature about 35C. Big difference. In Scotland we have a nun, who works in a hospice for the dying, who regularly paraglides off Tinto Hill in Lanarkshire, for charity. Regards, John.
