Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

My favorite time of the year, so rarely get snow now but when it lays I love to get out for walks especially in the park to see the trees like giant snowflakes embedded in the white dunes and the plants hunched from the weight. Some of the branches in your photograph look almost like coral, completely white and alien. You've captured what I adore the most about winter, the way everything visually changes like it has become another world and the cold, I love the cold.

Heavy elements indeed. I wonder if that tree will straighten up after all the elements are gone. Excellent shot. Aloha

this is such a beautiful image Jan-Carel, and verrrry special. It's a fantastic close up and i enjoy the symmetry in this image...everything bending backward!! you are right! sometimes trees that are exposed to such harsh elements have a tough time survivin'. but this tree is resilient and is gonna make it!!!! i just know she will!!!! vote!

My feet get cold especially when wearing steel-toed boots. It doesn't effect the outting only the sting of recovery. The heavy silence hides what happened here.

Again gorgeous capture

Very harsh, yet still in hangs on...life is tenacious. Wonderful photo showing the brutality and beauty of winter all in one!
