Description

This spruce-fir covered by snow and ice won't have an easy life, exposed to the harsh elements close to the top. Wind, freezing temperatures and lots of snow and ice advantage smaller appearances in these harsh environments. My favorite time of the year, so rarely get snow now but when it lays I love to get out for walks especially in the park to see the trees like giant snowflakes embedded in the white dunes and the plants hunched from the weight. Some of the branches in your photograph look almost like coral, completely white and alien. You've captured what I adore the most about winter, the way everything visually changes like it has become another world and the cold, I love the cold.

where I was raised my mother had evergreens and every winter the yard was a winter wonderland when it snowed. The trees bend under the heavy load, but the strong survive.excellent capture and very beautiful!!!V

I laughed when I saw this, it's a beautiful scene, but I want to step inside, trudge through the snow and shake the low branches! A kid again!! I love the previous comments here too.

Impressive... that it is a lot snow ! For the next two days we are in alert here in the Basque country.. a huge mass of polar air is coming to us... maybe I can see something similar to this... snow at water level... great !

Heavy elements indeed. I wonder if that tree will straighten up after all the elements are gone. Excellent shot. Aloha

this is such a beautiful image Jan-Carel, and verrrry special. It's a fantastic close up and i enjoy the symmetry in this image...everything bending backward!! you are right! sometimes trees that are exposed to such harsh elements have a tough time survivin'. but this tree is resilient and is gonna make it!!!! i just know she will!!!! vote!

My feet get cold especially when wearing steel-toed boots. It doesn't effect the outting only the sting of recovery. The heavy silence hides what happened here.
