I think the smoke would stand out better if you had a less gray sky. try a blue sky, or a cloudedstudded one. Also, where are the cannons? Or the gunport lids?

Man you are really something... This is another very fine example of outstanding artsmenship. How on earth did you get the sails to look so damaged? Excellent work of art here

Aye Carumba! Exellent! It must have taken forever ! I saw a movie of a ship battle once and when the cannons fire they made a smoke ring which could be a cool post work effect (or not)

My only wish be that they ships were somewhat different. Rarely were two ships identical, and even more rare that those two would meet in battle. The waves around the ships stirred up by the recoil of the cannons, and the shock of smoke around them are very impressive. Looks like the ship from Burkina Faso is getting the worst of it... The sails are filling with a light wind from astern; and zooming in, the flags are indeed blowing toward us too, maybe a little briskly considering the smooth glassy water, but what about the smoke? Shouldn't it be coming our way? These are just suggestions in case you wish to make it absolutely perfect, it's already so close. Just one more small thing, they probly wouldn't run out guns on both sides. They might, depending on how they maneuvered previously; but for both ships to do it is even less likely. Oh, and there otta be at least a few little men at the rails, shooting muskets perhaps, and some aloft in the tops. As incredible as it seems, the concept of getting behind cover to avoid getting shot wasn't in vogue in these battles. Overall tho, this painting would get a pretty good grade at Annapolis.
