Description

Not the best picture I have ever taken, but my first real attempt at catching the rising full moon. This was taken off Kumukahi Pt. on the Big Island right after sunset. I got a lot to learn about taking night photograpy...*sigh*....much fumbling around in the dark trying to adjust settings while the moon keeps on rising. Thanks for you kind comments on previous posts, and all my birthday wishes.....Aloha to All!

Very good capture! I like this cause of that color contrast with the purplish cast to the sky (with that hint of orange to dull it) along with the bright moon (see following comment tho). Also- the way that the moon has backlit the clouds. Sets the mood real nicely- and thats what this type of photo is supposed to do. Only suggestion may be to somehow tone down the moon just SLIGHTLY (burn it in) or use a layer options in a software to make it look a little softer. But nevertheless- Great Shot!

Thanks Devious, suggestions like these are surely welcomed...After reading much about taking night shots, it all goes out the window when the action starts...there's always next months moon to try again....weeeeee!

It is a very pretty shot, love the colors it has. As for my only advice I can come up with. Try taking two different pics, with the camera on a tripod of course. One where the moon is exposes just right, so its not to bright and not to dark, then one where the moon is overblown a bit. By taking the two right after each other you can blend them as layers in software. Then hopefully you come up with the moon just right and the background of the sky just right. Of course if it was that easy I would do it,lol. Still and excellent capture and job here.

Love the shot as it is! Cause everything isn't clear makes the picture very attractive to me. There is something left for the imagination.

Meh....taking photos at night is just too hard, and I dont have the patience, what with getting bitten by mozzies, having other nasty insects walking all over you...plus having to drag a stupid tripod around. sighs I need an assistant! I think you did remarkably well considering how inconvenient night p'graphy is. I think your present exposure is just fine and no adjustments need to be made. Its realistic! The full moon is not a dull/pale thing in the sky, it's actually very bright. So I believe this does the moon justice. Excellent exposure, well worth the trouble =)
