Description
While following his harem along a narrow trail, the big male slipped and went down.
After what seemed like minutes he came to a stop in a valley on the lowlands.
The only reason he slipped was it's mating season and he had his mind on other things. [Men, whatcha you going do?]
Granted it was a very nice valley, but this time of year he should be up high, with the ladies.
He spent the next few days racing his butt off trying to find a way back up, but all trails he could find would take him away from his herd.
He didn't understand how trails head North to go South.
Being a Male he didn't ask for directions either.
He had never been in this area before and mating season was over, so he would scout around, maybe looking for a new herd to acquire.
Along his wanderings he saw the birds, fish, deer and even a couple of chipmunks. They asked him if he had seen the "Boys" around.
One day while getting a drink he picks up the scent of a bear. Being down-wind he loses the scent.
The bear on the other hand had the scent of the Elk.
The Bear was young, but very hungry, the Elk was older and mature.
The odds are on the Elk, but many times the under dog wins.

An Outstanding creation, Frank! I love the many trees you have added.... and the elk, of coarse. Your story below the scene is fantastic. :) V

Classic 'Ariz' work here. This appears as a painting and is very well done. Excellent creation Frank!

I agree, it does look like a real painting. I also love the strata in the cliffs :)
