I'm curious too, not being a mariner. I recall the news a few months ago about new large cranes for the port of Oakland, but they were ~3x this size ... these look like 4 smaller ones, lashed together in pairs, perhaps built into the ship to load and unload its own cargo. Just guessing really - and I love the shot!
