Description

The Mind Hunter (comic) ----------------------- Created: June 2004 Created with: - Poser 4.03 - Bryce 5.01 - Photoshop ==================== About: ------ When I originally created this I had a bad flu and didn't feel like trying to sleep with it so I stayed up and had a playaround in POSER. I designed the scene in my mind to have only two characters, one is a man, the other is a kid. I wanted to play around with the really low-rez figures that comes supplied with POSER. - Biz Man P2 Lo - Casual Child P2 Lo I just did a quickie pose with the man, saved him out as a POSER file and also an .OBJ to import into BRYCE, and then did the same with the child figure. -- Really quick work. ;-) This was originally going to be just a study on lighting and shadows but it later evolved into something else.... In Photoshop I played around with the BRYCE rendered image. - As usual, I can't remember much what I did now as a lot of it was experimentation and an evolving progress....and I had the flu then. I worked the colour richness and shading to what I liked but I felt there was still something missing from the scene. - I also wanted to further hide the fact that I was using the same man figure (posed exactly the same because they were all duplicates) and so I began experimenting with distorting and manipulating the scene image. Finally, when all was done it was not. As usual, always looking for 'one more thing' to do to a 'final' version image, I hit upon turning it into a psuedo comic book page. If you go to www.blambot.com you can download for free some great comic fonts. - (Read the conditions section to see if you qualify for using them in your work without having to pay a license fee!) - There's also a page where you can download a ZIP file of .EPS balloon files that contain speech & thought balloons. - The site says that making your own baloons is easier but for some of us I'd say no way, especially with a flu! ;-) Am I going to do a "Mind Hunter" comic? - Not bloody likely! I just like experimenting with different artwork styles, quick projects, and so on because I know I'd get real bored very quickly doing an ongoing single project. So the Mind Hunter will just have to continually go on forever seeking vengeance. Really wonderful combination of lighting, color, and effect. The blur globe is awesome. Great work, and wonderful way to tell a story and evoke imagination with a single scene. Great Job! vote and added to favorite images

Actually Katsuhiro omo (Akira) Did something very similar to this called DOMU I believe. But your image is very cool. In case you are interested. http://www.justmanga.com/showprod.cfm?itemno=1569716110 More similar in the paranormal sense then anything.

I actually really like the artwork and style of anime but I prefer the not-so-Japanese culture orientated offerings as I find them more accessible. That's not to say I don't appreciate all of anime it's just that I tend to gravitate towards my preferences. With so much anime around these days it's easier to choose. ;-) - Anime wasn't in my mind when I created this image but for my next image that I'll post up in my gallery it was. :-) - BTW, I've just managed to score myself a cut price 6 DVD box set of "Cowboy Bebop" and I'm waiting for a chance to have a personal personal Bebop anime-fest. :-P ....Z.
