Description

chantal-france recommended I make my pictures smaller as more people would enjoy them that way. What does everyone else think? I have noticed that most photographs are posted in sizes between 1024x768 and 800x600, is that because of the RR restriction of 500K or because they prefer viewing pictures at these sizes? Another attempt at bw landscapes. Near Leysin (Switzerland).

Really cool photo, maybe just a tad too grainy. About the size-question, I personally like to view images that fit into my browser so that i dont have to scroll to see the whole picture. Kinda makes you loose the overall effect of the picture. And since people have different resolution set on their screens they will have different ideas on what "fits" so to speak. But I would think that you shouldnt go any higher than 1024 in widht. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thanks for sharing this photo. #:o)

Excellent photographic composition, effective use of monochrome imagery to add drama to a wonderous vista. Bravo - well done! I believe Zacko is correct in that ease of viewing dictates image size. The impact of viewing any composition could easily be subverted by having to scroll around to see its entirety.

I like the grainy look of the image...the images are posted 1024768 or 800600 because a lot of members have dial-up and a big resolution of a picture makes a difficult job for some of them to see it! so, this is quite a "good" resolution! :)

Probably because the images do not lose as much quality being bigger. Depending on the original I think even 640 x 480 can be nice. There is also the possibility that people think bigger is better and we allow 512k so why not. For me I enjoy any thing around 1024 or under. To not scroll is nice. Anyway this is a nice job done in B&W.

I don't like scrolling to see an image.... this size here works for me. Beautiful atmosphere and dark tones...

Very dramatic photo, love the ominous mood. Size is up to you and depends on the image. That said, some people have smaller monitors and don't wanna scroll so you have to decide if you want to cater to them.
