Description

I took the suggestion of rendering in Strata. I really like the ship plates texture. The golden spheroid is the star drive. The four appendages are drive field control panels which focus the ships direction in hyperspace.

Intresting design. The plate textures are nice, but I feel like they could be toned down a bit, but hey Im a complete noob at this 3D stuff myself. :)

I agree about texture. I am only just learning to alter them. The final product will be better.

Far too smooth for a mechanical object. Also, since it's a cruiser, and thus one of the bigger ships, it should be shown so with lots of small windows, arrays of antannas, and little details like that. If you want to keep it simple though, simply throw on a bump map, does wonders for any model :)

hmm..depends on what version of Strata you're using. You can stop by Strata Cafe` for materials and tutorials etc. Just glad to see someone else posting in Strata..
