Description

Looking at her, Jean-Paul questioned as to why he had not postulated it from the first. Her features, like any other quadroon, black hair and dark eyes, the aristocratic and lithe self-possession which was as natural as breathing - often he had seen more than once among the enigmatical gens de colouer of New Orleans. He had noticed a many a beautiful woman among them, but in Marie that beauty was softened and refined, partly, no doubt, by heredity, and even more by the nature of her upbringing. ~Transparent is the Color of Love by L.A.
