Apo 2.02, post in Photopaint. Thanks for viewing and your comnments! Following is part of a poem I wrote 20 years after witnessing the most incredible Northern Lights display, here in Alaska. The display was so awesome that it took me that long...for the right words to "form". :)
BLACK ARCTIC SKIES
There is a kind of cold magic
That rides arctic skies at night,
In ribbons of rainbow colors
The fire of the northern lights.
In the hush of the night how they crackle,
Painting black skies in a flash
With indelible, soft mystery dyes
Night colors the Gods now unlash, and
You think they will hang there, forever
Seeming stuck - to the cold midnight sky
You watch as they race out of sight,
And marvel at how fast they can fly.
In velvet black skies, they unfold,
Luxurious curtains that shimmer.
Look, how they dance, how they shine:
With a mystical kind of glimmer.
A lone wolf howls long, in the distance
With a slow mournful kind of a sound;
Setting the lights wildly blazing,
With a fire that touches the ground......
