Description

Things like that we see quite often on our streets right now. It is the regional form of carnival. The drive out of the winter in a very mythological form. And a weird form of fight against authorities - under those masks you are allowed to do and say what you want. Traditionally only men are allowed to dress like that, and the people that do that are not allowed to tell who they are. It is really huge here, parades with more than 20.000 of these guys are not rare. All ends next Tuesday, the last day of carnival with big parades in all (catholic) villages. BTW, the masks you see here are rather tame. There are much wilder forms around! Just one link with a picture gallery and some background is: http://www.rottweil.de/neu/pages/englisch/tourism/fasnet01.htm Who is who here? Well, i am not allowed to say that, only that Bri85 did the masks in Poser and i used parts of ORWO archer clothes for the dresses (retextured in Vue). Oh, in the background you do not see RDNA Whitechappel houses. The rest is little ol' me, my Mac, Vue 5 and more pxxxwork than normal (blurred in Photoshop and a little antiblur with a brush). Thanks again to Bri85 for the excellent mask. PS: I don't like this tradition. It is too weird for me.

A fascinating bit of culture you share here. It seems like a very chaotic time. Bri's masks are wonderful as well as your composition and lighting. Bravo to you both!

Well done, my friend. You depicted this clownish time very well. Especially the sense of movement you've created here looks great. A big Bravo from snowy Bavaria! :)))

Wow, that's some parade and tradition - how fascinating. Interesting how masks allow us to be more of ourselves. Really excellent composition and posing and lighting on this very unique artwork. :o) CC
