Description
This is Akernar, the sword of the Goddess of Death, that she herself forged at the beginning of time... For those who saw my fantasy scimitar, it's not that I'm obsessed with black blades, there's actually a reason for that, even though it's a little long to explain here.
The carvings you see, which I did my best to reproduce, come from the genius of Kit Rae, who designed the beautiful Morthoseth, the sword I used as a reference for this one.
It has been rendered with Final Gathering, no post work added.
Hope you enjoy, and thanks for viewing. Comments are always welcome.

This is fantastic! I love the detail you've put into the hilt. Your image looks as thought it could be a photo of the Morthosth blade, except, of course, the color of the blade. As for Kit Rae designs, I agree that they are genius. Kudos!!

Il pibello! ::thanks to translator:: Is the detail all modeled, or do you use displacement maps? I ask because I have ZBrush2, which has a special feature to create very detailed displacements like this, so you can have a lower resolution mesh that looks like a million polygons ::^_^::
