After more renders than I would care to count, based on my new assumption that single lights are the way to go, I have arrived at this image. This is a single-light scene, lit from (obviously) way off to the left from the viewer

shes very innocent looking, and a little shy I think. it's amazing how much character and feeling you have put into her. single light scenes can be difficult indeed, and you did a really good job!
