Description

Over the weekend, a terrible thing happened to me. Practically everything I had was stolen from where it was stored. Things from my childrens childhood memories, heirlooms...and I was devasted. As I tried to find healing, my work took on a life of it's own as they sometimes do, and this came to be. It could have been so much worse. I still have my children. I still have my sanity. Things are just that. Things. No matter how precious they are, they can never take the place of the ones we love. My question is this. Who will protect the innocent? Who will be our Champion? Things are getting so bad, soon there will be no where to hide. I live so far out in the country I would never have expected this to happen. What is there to do? Just thoughts. I know that I will not be inactive if I should see an innocent being violated. I will fight, and fight, and fight some more. Call me co-dependent if you wish, but who is there who will fight if not us personally? We are going to have to start taking care of each other. If I have but one life...let me give it to protect if I must. I am so tired of it.

When I was 19, I lost my world. I went deaf. How does one explain the silence to those who can hear, I wonder? But I've been fortunate in the fact that I've had others around me who cared and who were willing to help me get part of my world back. I can hear again, though the sound will never be natural, I can hear. May the Creator give you the strength to carry on as I was. One of my favorit quotes for you, which I found has helped others. "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes, at the end of the day, it's that quiet voice that says "I'll try again tomorrow.""

I just have to rest here on the ground and cry for a while. In a little bit I will pick myself up and take a couple of small steps. Then life will begin again.

Damn, Randee, this shouldn't be happening! You're right, there's no place to hide and no place to run so we might as well take a stand. Hopefully these idiots that took your things will get caught and you can recover what you lost. A very powerful image of rage and misery, excellent work that comes from a place none of us should have to explore.

OMG! My heart aches for you and the loss of your precious things. Yes, I know they are just things, but what an insult and invasion. Next it may be our lives that are taken. I also live very rural with no close neighbors. Sometimes I worry. Various friends in our area are repeatedly having thing stolen and broken into. What is our world coming to!!! God Bless You.

This is such a terrible violation! I'm sadden deeply for your loss Randee, but it sounds like you have a good grasp on the issues. It is good to put these feelings into your art, stunning work! Give your children a hug, and counter the evil with love! Hugs!

Randee ,you expressed all your feelings about this horrible traumatic incident in your picture . I wonder what made you put that handprint on the image .This looks to me like a handprint from a bloody hand .Here in Israel the sign of the hand is called a Hamsa and is a amulet for protection against evil ,everyone here uses them in silver or gold as jewelry or in ceramics as wallhangings .I think this goes back to the time that the people of Israel smeared the blood of a lamb on their doorposts and in doing this left prints of bloody hands ,as protection against the killing of their firstborn . That`s why your image impressed me so much ,you showed the horror but on top of that protection againt evil .May God bless you and your family and may you never again in your life be touched by evildoers.

I have to date never commented on any of your images. While browsing I came across your thumbnail and thought that your image looked interesting so I decided to have a look and read your story. It is a very terrible thing what happened to you. You also pose a very interesting question! I do suspect that you as I and as most , do know the answer to that. We tend to say (for this type or any other tragic event) this will not happen to me so we ignore it when it happens to a stranger and go on our way. I live in Canada and I have during the course of my life traveled the US extensively. We as you do have our crimes but it would appear looking through these eyes that our quality of life is a little richer and I do not mean this in a monetary sense either. After all the US is richer than we could ever dream of becoming. Possibly our values differ to some degree. (do not take this in a negative way because I for one like the US very much). It just seems that we do look out for each other a little more. You know I do not know for the life of me why I wrote this to begin with. But let's just say it may-be because I'm one of those who does care and I to do not like some of the things that I see happening around me. I sincerely hope that you will get through this and move on with your life. Your image is Magnificent!!!!

Randee I am so sorry to hear of this sad news. I can only imagine the grief of having things so precious taken. It makes you wonder what goes through people's minds who would do such a horrible thing. God bless and know you are in my prayers. I hope the things are found. Excellent image!
