Description

A test render from some playing around - incorporating backlight glow in the ears (from some techniques Mec4d posted). Overall, I'm not sure I got the balance of this render quite right...I can't put my finger on it - maybe her lashes are too thick, maybe the eye shadows are too much...I don't know....

Looks good, what is the URL of the mec4d thing? And is her store up yet?

Hi Face_Off, your image looks great. Maybe what is drawing your attention is the eyeliner not the lashes themselves. The skin and the hair look great. Cath's site is at mec4d.com.

This is a Great Piece!! Remember you dont want to over expose your highlighted skin tones. I like this balance! Even your darkened ends are brought out with the lighting!! The lighting really enhances the true colour tones of her skin, and adds alot of depth!! super job!! -- odd --

Excellent render to me. Especially i do like her eyes with the very wet look. I am also not sure about the glow on the ears. But terrific.

Face_off, I just asked my wife (the artist in the family) and here is her critique: shadow on cheekbone highlights bone in wrong place; open pored texture goes with an age of 30 something (which she likes) but more wrinkles are needed to go with the open pores; ear texture doesn't match neck/face texture. All that said, it's the best poser face she's seen. Excellent!

Nice - I wondered how long it would be before you put the translucence node to work :D I'm not sure why but the shadows (and eye shadow) give her a bit of a 'hard' quality, nothing wrong with that of course it's just the impression I get from the image. Excellent - can't wait to see where you take this next.

I think that keen eye of yours is looking for DOF and focal blur at this stage of the game. Ear trans are fine but the ear tex (imo)will have to be exaggerated to compensate for the loss in contrast (highlighting?). The backlight found the flattest part of the bumpmap, too. Eyes are there, as is the rest. Something about this head morph that's sending me messages...can't put my finger on it!

I think her eyelashes look really good here, and her eye reflections. I can tell you are an extreme perfectionest about your lighting, so I think the problem is how Poser does the side of her nose, in this case, too highlighted. It stops me from uploading all the time, to me it is like a black line, or shadow edge of two light sources from different angles, and opposite side x translations. I am not at all good with lights, and I frustrate easily. Actually, for Poser, this lighting is fantastic!

No helpful comments for improving this marvellous work - I'm still practising Hyper Real V3. Very impressed by hair too.
